ABOUT ME

Guy is a Fellow of the Guild of Professional Toastmasters, following on from an exciting 30 year career in public service.

With his confidence and command in social situations, his friendly, people-orientated and caring approach, Guy will ensure your function proceeds to time and purpose – with the approach and  style he will have agreed with you prior to your special occasion.

From his time as a senior police officer, planning and leading high risk operations, he is unflappable; any unforeseen challenges will be dealt with swiftly, often without the client needing to know about them.

Guy has presence, an excellent knowledge of protocol and etiquette, and has polished organisational and presentational skills.  His grasp of the English language and diction is first class. With a smile, Guy will ensure the event proceeds with a “touch of class”, style and gravitas.

Guy is a family man who enjoys travelling, playing sport, his Labrador retrievers, and time spent with his family. He takes pride in, and considers it a privilege to help to make for the most enjoyable day.

Training

Guy qualified as a Fellow following a lengthy, demanding programme run by the Professional Toastmasters’ Academy. This is the training arm of the Guild of Professional Toastmasters, founded 1968. Following initial interview, rigorous training course, shadowing of experienced Guild Toastmasters, a demanding written exam, successful observations at his own events, followed by final interview, Guy was admitted into fellowship. The Guild covets an enviable reputation for practising to the highest standards. It is reassuring for his clients, that Guy will provide a first class, professional service.

THE ROLE OF A TOASTMASTER

A professionally trained Toastmaster is an integral part and a valued tradition in British weddings. His experience and organisation ensures the day runs to time – by liaising with the banqueting manager, photographer and other service providers. His  presence distinguishes your wedding, adding professionalism, sparkle and style to the occasion. By taking charge of the day, he takes away the worry and pressure of hoping a friend, relative or a restaurant manager  will carry out the role – and get things right. Trust your special day to the professional! If unforeseen problems arise, they are dealt with discreetly and efficiently, often without the bride or bridegroom ever needing to know. It will give peace of mind knowing you are entrusting your wedding day to the expert.

Guy is delighted to provide his Professional Toastmaster service for weddings of all faiths, and cultures, including Asian and Jewish, as well as Civil Partnerships and same sex Marriages.

In addition, Guy is experienced in, and pleased to perform at:

  • corporate dinners and dinner dances

  • civic luncheons and banquets

  • masonic ladies festivals

  • birthdays, anniversaries

  • Bar mitzvahs and Bat mitzvahs

  • awards ceremonies, conferences

  • sports club annual dinners

  • Rotary club, Lions and Round Table functions

  • Official openings or a product launch

This is what you can expect from Guy, as your toastmaster and Master of Ceremonies:

    • Meet with you at your home or reception venue, to discuss your requirements.

    • From this point on Guy is contactable by text, phone or email, for advice and reassurance, right up to your special day.

    • Work closely with your reception venue management, caterers, photographer and/or videographer and other service providers to ensure that your needs and timings are met.

    • Meet and receive your guests, welcoming them with any necessary information regarding the venue and/or the arrangements for your reception.

    • Arrange your Receiving Line (if required) and the formal entry into the Wedding Breakfast.

    • Carry out a number of Announcements including the cutting of your Wedding Cake & your Speeches.

    • Assist with any presentations and ensure that all the presents and bouquets are fully available

         Guy can also, if required:-

    • Provide advice to the Bridegroom, Father of the Bride, and Best Man on speech writing.

    • Provide a small, professional PA system, with a wireless microphone, for your Speeches; there will be an additional cost for this.

    • Wear a Lounge or Dinner suit if you feel that the normal ‘Red Toastmaster’ attire is too formal.

For Civil Ceremonies and Partnerships, taking place at the same venue as your reception, Guy will also:

    • Work with your reception venue to ensure that your guests are seated in your ceremony or partnership room at the correct time.
